Clinton Woods is a professional boxing player from Sheffield, England. Also known as Super Clinton or Clint, he is current IBF light heavy weight champion by defeating his opponent Rico Hoye. Born on May, 1972 Clinton Woods had a different lifestyle before he began with his professional boxing career, as he was involved in drugs and crime related acts. With a continuous 19 wins he became a household name. His first defeat came after his 19 winning streaks when he fought against David Starie. Educated at the Westfield Upper School, Sheffield (Mosborough), Clinton Woods (super Clinton) is ready to face his big opponent after the come back from his injury. His personal life consists of a happy family with a wife, son and a daughter along with 6 siblings (2 sisters and 4 brothers).

This 35 years old English layer has fought 44 fights till date and won 41 out of those 44 fights. With 3 losses and 1 draw, super Clinton has also known for his 24 knockouts.

But, before defeating his opponent for winning his IBF lightweight world championship, Clinton Woods had to struggle four times for finally getting his hand on the title. First he faced Roy Jones Jr. in Portland, September 2002 but failed to prove his worth. Then he went for fights against Glencoffe Johnson and lost making the Jamaican Johnson beat Jones and Antonio Tarver for a back to back victory moment in his career.

Clinton Woods Sold Out Fight Tickets

Recent meeting between Clinton and Johnson was in September 2, 2006 where he won the match by split decision and retaining his IBF light heavyweight championship title. Although his previous meetings with Johnson were a disappointment, Clinton Woods used this opportunity to prove his side towards his Jamaican challenger who is also much known opponent of Clint.

His latest being his title defense match against Julio Gonzalez on 29 September in Sheffield's Hallam Arena. Clint had also beaten Julio Gonzalez in September 2005 a match which was planned for Ricky Hatton-Luis Castilo undercard but was postpones due to arm injury to woods. In his title defense against Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Clinton Woods made a win over Gonzalez in 11 round by taking a 117-111-115-113 116-112 from judges.

With a surgery on October 6th, Clinton Woods returned after completing his three month medical training session but was still disturbed by his injury enough to reshuffle his first match of 2007. Reason that put Clinton Woods career on hold was his painful injury called golfer's elbow which caused him a sore and stiff elbow.

With a career of 41-3-1 (24 KOs), 175 pounds (12ston, 7lbs) Clinton Woods is a player with orthodox stance and is all set to come back as a fighter in his future major matches. Also, with his friend Dennis Hobson as his promoter and manager, Woods believe he is ready to face big British fighters and win another world title soon.
