Felix 'Tito' Trinidad Boxing Career
On June 19, 1993, in his first world title bout for the IBF welterweight crown, Tito faced the two-time world champion Maurice Blocker. Trinidad knocked off Blocker at 1:59 of the second round of the match.
The first defense of Trinidad for the IBF welterweight title was in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on August 6, 1993 against the top contender of that time, Luis Garcia. Trinidad stunned Garcia by knocking him off to the mat four times in the first round after which, the bout was halted.
On January 29, 1994, Trinidad was vaulted to the leaders of the boxing world after scoring an undisputed verdict over Hector "Macho" Camacho. Trinidad clearly dominated that fight against Camacho, the "Macho Man".
On April 3, 1998, Trinidad returned to Bayamon, Puerto Rico for a perfect homecoming to fight the then No.1 contender Mahenge Zulu and to defend his welterweight crown from him which he easily succeeded to do.
Trinidad then went on to defend his IBF welterweight title another 16 times against several best opponents and with his continuous choice of superior challengers, including the WBC welterweight champion Oscar De La Hoya or "The Golden Boy".

Following the footsteps of Puerto Rico's greatest world champions like Wilfredo Gomez and Wilfred Benitez, Trinidad, during this period, had become one of the hottest boxers in the world, nearing the top of the pound-for-pound best lists time and again.
Don King, the Promoter on the other hand went on create a Middleweight World Championship Series where the then top four boxers would fight against each other, just to determine who would become the undisputed Middleweight champion and the winner would also get to win the first Sugar Ray Robinson trophy.
Trinidad's first challenger in the new division was holder of the WBA title since 1998, William Joppy, whom he destroyed in his first fight.
Moving to the finals of the Middleweight World Championship Series, Trinidad had to fight against Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins.
By this time, everyone thought of Trinidad to be the undisputed middleweight champion. But what were to come next were surprises to all, even Trinidad himself, as he was to face the first defeat of his life.
Hopkins knocked down Trinidad before a shocked pack of spectators in Madison Square Garden.
Trinidad then went on to fight back his first fight after the defeat against Hasine Cherifi, on May 11, 2002, for the 41st victory of his career.

A few months later after this 41st pro-boxing victory, news was out that Tito was retiring from the boxing world.
But, later on March 2, 2004, Felix Trinidad officially announced his comeback at a press conference in Madison Square Garden in New York City. Following this announcement, on Oct. 2, 2004, he fought against the former World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council welterweight champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga in the Madison Square Gardens to knock him out and taste victory again.
Tito again announced a temporary retirement in the year 2005 after being defeated by his opponent Winky Wright on May 14, 2005.
But there is good news for all the Trinidad fans, as this former three-division champion, will be finally be coming out of his temporary second retirement on January 26, 2008, for a fight against Roy Jones, a former four-division champion.
