Randy Tolsma was born on the 4th of May, 1966 in Meridian, Idaho. When he was nine years old, Randy was a former car racing driver who began his car race career in contraptions known as go-karts, before moving higher to driving sprint cars, going as far as the much-loved USAC tournament where he swept 4 track championships. However, Randy missed the qualification for the 1996 competition - Indianapolis 500. Then he shifted his attention towards NASCAR where he made his 1st start in that year's Craftsman Truck Series. From that year to 2002, he made more than a 100 starts in the Truck Series. He was also able to make over ten Busch Series starts between 2000 and 2001. Randy launched out his NASCAR debut in the year 1996 on the famous Phoenix International Raceway. Randy Tolsma later returned in 1997 when he began running a limited race schedule for Coulter.

While running 15 races, he had five top-10s, together with his 1st career win on the Mesa Marin Raceway, where he was able to hold down Stacy Compton - his fellow rookie for the last 12 laps. Tolsma paired with Coulter to run on a full-time basis in 1998; making his 1st career pole on the tracks of Indianapolis Raceway Park where he also had 10 top-ten finishes. Late in the same season, Coulter took out his Truck team, and Randy driving for Liberty Racing, Dominic Dobson and Phil Bonifield. He completed a total of 26 races and finished 14th in points. In 1999, Randy Tolsma signed an agreement to drive Impact Motorsports' new #25 Supergard Motor Oil Dodge Ram. In the season's opening motor race, he sat on the pole at Homestead, posted 10 top-ten finishes all through the course of the season and finished 11th in points.

In 2000, Randy grabbed 15 top-tens and crowned them with a win at Nashville. He again finished 8th in points and went ahead to Dover to make his Busch Series debut, driving for Team Rensi Motorsports' #25 Lance Snacks Chevy. He started in the 38th place and finished 28th. When Impact ran into financial problems, Randy left them to drive for Rensi's truck team. Sadly, their #16 was not sponsored and despite the fact that Randy was in the top-ten in points, the team had to fold after the Power Stroke Diesel 200. He finished that year driving 12 races for Rensi's Busch team earning his best finish with 18th at Memphis. He was not able to maintain his ride for the 2002 racing season, and could only run 1 Truck race at Martinsville, finishing 18th. He hasn't run in NASCAR ever since.
