Olympic Movements

The IOC meets on a yearly basis during the years when the Olympic Games are not scheduled. They are deemed with the tasks to vote in and out existing and new members as well to re-elect a president for their Committee. These types of meetings have been labelled as IOC Sessions. When the time comes for countries around the world to begin the bidding for the winter or Summer Olympic Games, they become very aggressive in the hopes that their bid will be accepted by the IOC. Most of the members within the IOC represent the hosting countries from around the world. The members then vote every four years after the Olympic Games for the next hosting country for each season. This is a very prestigious honour. Of course just as with any committee that maintains any amount of power over a certain event, there is bound to be controversy and criticism and the IOC is no different. Over the years there have been many accusations of the IOC taking brides from the awarded host country, playing favourites, only choosing countries within Europe or North America and of course over-protectiveness when it comes to their symbols and age old traditions. As they do monitor and set the standards for the Olympic Games and this includes every detail from how the opening ceremony is commenced and what actions are to be included in both the opening and closing ceremonies. With or without the controversy, the IOC is a very important and necessary committee to maintain the Olympics and its wholesome and spirited enthusiasm which they take great care of to avoid any harm. The last thing the world wants to see is the Olympic Games to be tainted because the Olympic movement committees did not do their job effectively.
