SEM

SEM- Search Engine Marketing-is probably one of the most common methods of marketing today. On the internet, SEM is the most popular form of marketing that promotes websites and gives them the best web results which eare so desirable. By increasing the visibility of websites in the search results, SEM may cause an improved traffic on one's site.
SEM includes three methods of marketing; paid inclusion, paid placement; PPC- Pay per Click and SEO- Search Engine Optimization.
The SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2003 in order to promote websites and provide a professional marketing tools and information for the users. SEMOP main mission is creating marketing activities which are intended to educate, support and grant values for costumers and members.
This article will review shortly the advantages, as well as disadvantages, of all the three SEM models.

SEM First Method

The paid inclusion is probably the simplest SEM method; a company of a search engine charges a fee from websites and in return, the company includes the site in their search engine index. Usually the fee is according the number of web pages and an annual fee. Usually these paid inclusion websites are shown separately in Google, so the users can recognize it as a paid site and not an organic result. Other search engines mix the paid inclusion with PPC method, Yahoo for instance, so the paid sites also are shown separately.
Although paid inclusion based on money and not on relevancy, it's considers as an SEO tool, since the paid sites owners can control the web page, which added to the search engine index, and test the different tools and approaches to improv the web page rank. This SEM method allows owners to specify particular schedules for adding pages, as oppsed to non- paid websites, such as SEO.

SEM Second Method

The PPC, Pay per Click, is a paid placement SEM method. This SEM model is based on fee for each user's click and visit on the websites. The company, or business, defines keywords as a marketing target, so the site will appear on the search engine results when the user searches for a product. For each entering of users, the website pays the search engine company, when the criterion is the keyword and not the relevancy. Usually the results of this SEM model are not part of the organic results, but are shown separately, as mentioned in the first SEM method. This technique is also called sponsored links or ads, and may appear on websites. Except for the popularity of a search engine, the prices for uncommon keywords are about few tens of cent (US$) per click, while the prices for common keywords can cost much more.
This SEM method can combine a lot of techniques, such as Pay per Call, Online Comparison Shopping Engines etc. Although serach engines have systems against click fraud, it may be open to abuse. Furthermore, just like the first SEM method, PPC is based on money and less on relevancy.

SEM Third Method

The last SEM method is SEO- Search Engine Optimization. This is a non- paid model which its search results are organic, natural, and based on the relevancy of the site. The main strategy is creating a site that contains relevant contents, links and seniority. All these criterions are matched the search engines parameters. This SEM method is the most efficient but takes longer than the others. The main advantage is the long range investment. This SEM model may be combined with the two other paid websites, but after obtaining a well rank, the organic search results will come easily and with no fee. Usually, a professional work of this SEM model, is required an SEO company, although today there are many sites on the net which supply an information and instructions.

As you saw above, SEM contains varied methods which, in the end, designed building traffic to the site. When you decide to use one of the models to your own business, first try to define the thing you wish to achieve, the main goal of the web site, the range of obtaining, the influence of the advantage and disadvantage of each model, and then choose the right SEM method for you.
